The language school French in Acton celebrated the French independence holiday, Bastille Day, on July 14 with a dinner hosted by fine dining restaurant Bondir Concord. More than 40 Francophiles - mostly adult students and friends of French in Acton - gathered for this sixth annual event, featuring a meal and entertainment themed to the French national holiday.
Led by Cynthia Edelman, Ève Fischer, and Virginie Faas of French in Acton, the group engaged in French conversation, as well as the custom flag waving and singing of La Marseillaise, the French national anthem.
Flutist Nina Prakash, Acton-Boxborough Regional High School rising junior, performed a selection of five pieces to kick off the evening, including works from French composers and instrumentals from renowned French singer Edith Piaf.
Members of the group hailed from Acton, Boxborough, Carlisle, Concord, Framingham, Harvard, Leominster, Lincoln, Newton, Stow, and Wayland.
